Commemorative Edition of the 1877 Illustrated Historical Atlas of Jackson County Missouri

In 1877 an illustrated historical atlas map was made of Jackson County, Missouri. It included maps of early townships, histories of early settlers and townships, including "The Mormon Imbroglio", and much more. It is a beautifully illustrated 130th Anniversary edition of that early illustrated historical atlas. Included in the atlas are drawings of the Courthouse in Independence, Missouri, the jail, original landowner names, and biographical sketches of prominent citizens, including Daniel Boone, Col. Samuel Owens, General Samuel D. Lucas, and Lilburn W. Boggs (who is described as "A man of great purity of life and fine social attainments, his attractive character without possessing any great brilliancy [left] his posterity that 'pearl of great price,' an unblemished name.") http://statehistoricalsocietyofmissouri.org/cdm/ref/collection/plat/id/1890
